I would like you to meet my Jack Russel terrier, Scamp.
Scamp is 12 years old, 13 next month. He was gifted to me when I was 4, and has put up with my crap for his entire life. The special thing about Scamp is that for most of my life, he has been my best friend. Growing up, I was in a community that had no other children my age. He was bought as a companion for me, even though the duplex we lived in did not allow dogs. Through kindergarten I was labeled as ‘the strange kid’, and he was even more important for me then. He even defended me when I was being harassed on a walk with him, even though he was such a small dog. He has never once bit me. He cuddles with me when I sleep.
And he is dying.
Despite my best efforts to keep his mouth clean through periodic brushing, he has developed a bacteria in and around his teeth (more information on the condition can be read here). It had gotten to the point of my dog needing surgery to remove the infected teeth, and various medications.
Image of scamp’s teeth.
The whole procedure is estimated to be around $800 in costs. I am trying my best to get the money together, but it is simply beyond my ability to do alone fast enough. My parents refuse to pay for even part of it.
I know Scamp is old, and I know that he will die one day. But I am not ready to lose my best friend yet. He is still so full of life, and all the veterinarians he has seen say it could be the difference between him being around for a few more months to him being around a few more years.
I have made a chipin for him- while I don’t expect to get the full amount, or even close to the full amount, every little bit helps at this point. Even if you can not donate, reblogging can help it be seen by someone who might.

Reblogging because I saw a post similar and yeah. Reminded me about it I guess.

Signal boost for a friend, and for this adorable lil’ guy.

Signal boost because I know how hard it is to have one of your pets pass away and I don’t like to think about it ever happening to myself or anyone ever again even though I know it will. ><

I’m such a sucker for pets >.<
Hopefully they’ll get the other $400 needed :)
